The Town of Readfield seeks proposals from qualified firms to complete the design, State permitting, and installation of a full Fire Suppression System to protect life and property at the Readfield Fire Station. The Fire Station is located at 1154 Main St. in Readfield and was expanded in 2020 to include a total of four apparatus bays, a meeting space, office spaces, kitchen (hood system already installed), two bunk rooms, a day room, utility rooms, two full bathrooms, a half-bath, and partial basement. Several design components were incorporated into the building expansion to support fire protection but the fire suppression system installation will cover the entire structure. Collaboration with the State Fire Marshall's Office is required to ensure the design is NFPA compliant and to facilitate permit approval. Local permitting will be the responsibility of the Town. Performance and payment bonds, or an irrevocable letter of credit, in the full amount of the contract must be provided prior to the commencement of work in accordance with 14 M.R.S. 871. The Town reserves the right to accept any or reject any and all proposals, wholly or in part; to waive technical defects or procedures; andto make awards deemed to be in the best interest of the Town. Contract award may be considered at a regular meeting of the Readfield Select Board on March 27, 2023.
