Library Window Restoration, 306 Main Street, Sturbridge, Ma Project Location: Joshua Hyde Public Library, 306 Main Street Contractor shall restore the 10 existing historic wood windows along the north, west, and south facades of the main reading room, facing the church, Maple Street and Main Street respectively. The windows are divided light arch-top over one, single pane wavy/historic glass. There are aluminum storm windows on the exterior, with screens. Work shall include but not be limited to: o Replacement of broken glass (Owner has 2 windows available - 1 single pane full size salvaged for use, as well as one cracked large pane and divided light panes; all other panes by Contractor. Wavy glass preferred but not mandatory.) o Replacement of all glazing putty o Repair of damaged wood (Owner has 2 windows available for salvage if needed, but extensive replacement is not likely and has not been observed) o Priming and painting of previously painted surfaces, including sash and exterior frame o Repair of any damage to surrounding surfaces during work to remove windows o Removal and reinstallation of exterior storm windows, with greased tracks for improved operation o All historic hardware to remain as feasible; sash shall operate and lock when completed o Lifts or ladders as necessary o Any and all temporary framing or infill for windows during removal for restoration (insulated if necessary based on the season) o It is expected most work will occur off-site, as there is little room on site and the library will remain open and functioning during the project. Submittals will be required for the following: paint products, wood restoration products, hardware, or any other items deemed necessary by the Contractor or Owner. Owner will move all furniture and non-built in obstructions as necessary for interior access to each window. Exterior access will need to work around landscaping. Budget is $25,000. If project exceeds this value, a 50% payment bond may be required in accordance with state law.
