Renovation of a water / sewer project in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Working plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
As of December 4, 2025, an engineer has been selected and design work is complete. Bidding is expected to occur between December 2025 and February 2026, with construction scheduled to begin in April 2026 and conclude by February 2028. This project is included in the City of Fort Lauderdale Fiscal Year 2026-2030 CIP. This project will provide more efficient oxygen transfer by replacing mixers and rehabilitate concrete in the reactors at the George T. Lohmeyer Wastewater Treatment Plant (GTL). GTL currently has two reactors that have severe corrosions inside of them due to the current environment they are in. The mixers have been rebuilt once and will need to be fully replaced in the next three years. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
