As of December 13, 2023, an engineer has been selected and this project is in design. Contractor bidding is scheduled for February 2024. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. A detailed scope has not yet been released. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Economic Development & Industrial Corporation ("EDIC") of Boston d/b/a Boston Planning & Development Agency ("BPDA"), by its Chief Procurement Officer ("CPO"), is pleased to issue this Request for Proposals ("RFP") to perform Maritime Engineering Design Services for Rehabilitation of the South Jetty Bulkhead (hereinafter, the "Services") including site investigation, the preparation of public bid documents (per MGL c. 30 39M), permitting, cost estimating, construction administration, resident engineering, environmental oversight and peer review. The budget for the Design Services is Two Hundred-Ninety Thousand Dollars ($290,000.00). The Services are anticipated to extend through December 2023 for completion of all tasks. The resulting contract will be awarded to the responsive and responsible respondent meeting the quality requirements, satisfying the minimum threshold criteria, and submitting the most advantageous proposal, taking into consideration the comparative evaluation criteria and the fee proposal. Respondents meeting the minimum threshold criteria and quality requirements may be interviewed as part of the evaluation process. The BPDA reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive any minor informalities. The award of this contract is subject to approval by the Economic Development & Industrial Corporation of Boston Board of Directors and is contingent on availability of funds. The sites listed in this IFB may be visited by bidders independently; for any questions, please email the Project Manager Collins Engineers, Inc. produced construction documents to complete the project. The proposed improvements at South Jetty and East Jetty will include demolition and removal of 1,100 linear feet (50,000 square feet) of the existing concrete deck, installation of approximately 560 linear feet of new bulkhead, and removal of approximately 4,000 cubic yards of existing soil stockpiled adjacent to East Jetty that was generated from the excavation to facilitate prior repairs. The scope of work is as follows: Demolition and removal of approximately 1,100 linear feet (50,000 square feet) of the existing concrete deck at the South and East Jetty to prevent total collapse of the wharf into the water: o The concrete deck will be removed up to the cold joint that runs parallel to the bulkhead where the inner-most piles are in better condition. o Removal of the outer-most deck will relieve the loads imparted on the deteriorated piles and prevent movement and impact to the surrounding infrastructure, including the existing steel sheet pile bulkhead and parcels on the landside. o The existing piles beneath the wharf will remain in place; however, their failing pile jackets consisting of rebar cages and concrete encasement will be removed along with the existing timber fender piles on the outer edge of the wharf
