PROJECT DESCRIPTION/SERVICES REQUESTED The Professional Service Contractor (PSC) is to provide design services for a Phase 100 Study to determine if the Michigan School for the Deaf Dorms are in a condition to warrant a renovation project or torn down and built as new. The existing dormitory at Stevens Hall, currently serves 50-60 students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and is two stories at 36,796 square feet. A recently renovated one-story portion is 6,850 square feet. Please include the following in your proposal: o Include time for 3 client meetings. o The study should include an assessment of the existing facility including space needs, structural and safety. o The study should include estimated costs for the recommendation. o The study should include a programmatic and space needs analysis based upon design for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing o The PSC firm must have an architect versed in American Sign Language and deaf culture on staff, or team with an architect who is deaf or hard-of-hearing. o The PSC must have experience in designing spaces for the deaf or hard-of-hearing.
