Renovation of an educational facility in New Paltz, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

21:01 The project base bid work involves the removal and replacement of concrete stairs, walks and the associated hand railing used to access the house, and the removal and replacement of the handrailing system at the existing porch stairs. Modifications to the stone treads at the porch are also part of the project work. Landscape areas are to be removed as specified on the drawings and proposed new landscaping installations are detailed on the landscaping plan. Three sets of concrete stairs are proposed to be constructed to access the house from the lower parking lot. Concrete walkways are to be installed to provide a walkway connection between the sets of stairs and to connect the top of the stairs to porch. Details for steel handrailing systems associated with the new stairways are provided. Base bid work also includes the removal of four bollard lights and the construction of new lighting for the stairways and the walkway connection from the top of the stairs to the porch. The project work includes grading, topsoil application, seeding, mulching and erosion control as detailed on the drawings. Alternate one includes the removal of a small section of existing stone walk, the removal of a small section of gravel at an existing utility cut in the driveway and the removal and replacement of three existing lights located adjacent to the driveway. Alternate one work also includes the installation of an asphalt walkway from the driveway to the proposed walkway at the top of the stairs and two additional lights along this walkway. Full depth asphalt installation at the existing utility cut in the driveway is part of alternate one. Plantings adjacent to the asphalt walkway associated with alternate one, are part of alternate one as noted on the landscape plan. Alternate two includes sawcutting of existing asphalt pavement at the lower driveway and minor asphalt removal in this area. Alternate two includes the installation of asphalt pavement at the lower parking area to create two additional parking spaces, the milling and asphalt overlay of the entire driveway and lower parking area and the application of pavement markings as shown on the plans. Bids must be submitted in duplicate in accordance with the instructions contained in the Information for Bidders. Security will be required for each bid in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the Total Bid. It is the policy of the State of New York and the State University of New York to encourage minority business enterprise participation in this project by contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, and all bidders are expected to cooperate in implementing this policy. The State University of New York reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
