The City of Alpena will receive proposals for replacement of existing exterior lighting and installation of new lighting within various locations around the City Alpena, Michigan 49707. Following approval, the City will issue contracts to the vendor which shall serve as the notice to proceed. The Contractor shall provide services for a period ending June 30, 2022. The City of Alpena shall have the right to extend this contract for two additional one-year periods if both parties can mutually agree upon prices. In no case shall the contract be extended beyond June 30, 2024. If both parties cannot agree on prices for a contract extension, the existing contract will be allowed to expire and the contract will be rebid. Contractor shall submit individual proposals for the following: Alpena Marina Remove and replace exterior lighting on the Breakwall Walkway at the Alpena Marina. It is the intent of the City to replace the existing tall brown pole lights with new high efficiency, dark skies friendly bollards. Bollards shall be vandalism resistant and fit in the existing openings withing the railing. Our preference would be for the new bollards to utilize the existing bolt pattern, if possible. There are 21 existing poles on the Breakwall. It is the intent of the City of maximize the funding available and may therefor award the project across two fiscal years with the second fiscal year starting July 1, 2022. Due to grant funding, project must be completed by August 1, 2022. Johnson Street Boulevard Island Remove and replace streetlighting in the boulevard island of Johnson Street at Alpena Community College. It is the intent of the City to replace the existing tall brown pole lights with new high efficiency, dark skies friendly streetlights. Due to the location of these lights, contractor shall take into consideration to impact of snow removal for the new poles. Our preference would be for the new bollards to utilize the existing bolt pattern, if possible. There are six existing lights to be replaced. Washington Avenue Park Installation of new bollard lighting at Washington Avenue Park. It is the intent of the City to install new high efficiency, dark skies friendly bollards along the existing bi-path. Proposal shall include the installation of direct bury wiring and connection into the existing lighting circuit at the Eleventh Avenue entrance. Bollards shall be vandalism resistant. Our preference would be for the new bollards to utilize the existing city-wide bolt pattern, if possible, to allow for standardization of replacement parts. There is approximately 1700 feet of pathway within the main park which we intend to light. It is the intent to place lighting on an approximately 100 foot spacing. If budget allows, lighting may be continued along the cemetery section of the bipath. An alternate add on price for receptacles in the bollards is also requested.
