2. Pre-Stressed Concrete Box Units for County Bridge No. 228 (B-22-02)
3. Meat and Fish (B-22-03) The Scope of Work includes, but is not limited to:
A. Procure, fabricate and install templates to aid in layout of steel H-pile.
B. At County Bridge 228 drive nineteen (19) HP12x63 A572 Grade 50 abutment piles to practical
refusal as ordered by the County Engineer should the required load capacity not be achieved as shown
on the contract plans. The contractor shall furnish the piles with pile protectors attached to each
pile. Splices will not be allowed due to the short estimated length. The contractor shall cut
each pile to the cut-off elevation shown on the plans. Dynamic pile testing shall be performed on
one (1) H-pile in each abutment to determine load capacity and driving criteria.
C. The unit bid price for this work shall include the cost of all labor, materials and equipment necessary
to complete this work, including driving equipment, dismantle and removal of pile driving equipment
upon completion.
E. All bidders shall inspect the project sites prior to bidding. A site visit with County staff will be
held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at County Bridge 228 to become acquainted
with the location and conditions under which the work will be accomplished. Bidders are
encouraged to attend the site visit at this time. Please call 845-807-0281 to R.S.V.P. (See
Location Map on page 4).
F. Sullivan County shall provide Dynamic Pile Testing by an independent consultant.
G. Sullivan County shall provide Survey Layout and Control for each location an H-pile shall be driven
by the Contractor.
H. Sullivan County shall obtain all NYSDEC permits and provide erosion control measures.
I. Sullivan County shall excavate to the bottom of the proposed concrete stem at each site.
J. Sullivan County shall coordinate relocation of overhead utilities. 2. The Bidder is advised to visit the sites and study the soil boring logs to become acquainted with the location and
conditions under which the work will be done (See Location Map). Contract limits extend 150 ft. in both
directions from center of the existing bridge along existing road centerline of Lily Pond Rd. The road will be
closed to traffic and will utilize an off-site detour.
A. Bidder shall be responsible for the use of pile driving equipment of the appropriate driving force for HPile driving to proceed past any obstructions encountered. Said hammer shall not be less than 19,500 ft-lb
driving force. No additional cost will be allowed for the use of a larger equipment.
