In California, nearly 3,600 people die each year in traffic crashes and more than 13,000 people are severely injured. Although there has been a decline in fatalities and serious injuries, rates have been increasing since 2010. Caltrans is prioritizing traffic safety through setting realistic and achievable steps for California to move toward zero fatalities and serious injuries. Caltrans is soliciting proposals from qualified professional consulting firms to provide services for the development of twelve (12) District Traffic Safety Plans. The development of the District Traffic Safety Plans supports Caltrans goal by evaluating the State Highway System and proposing solutions to better inform decision making for the development of future safety improvement projects. The related initiatives below should be integrated into the District Traffic Safety Plans. Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation applies to this RFP and a DBE goal of twentyone percent (21%) is required. See Section D, in this RFP for requirements.
