The Pensacola International Airport (PNS) is modernizing the two existing Montgomery Elevator Company escalators in the main terminal building. The escalators have a rise of 13'-4". The escalators centrally surround a stair and are contained by vertical masonry shafts on opposite ends. The project will require the Contractor to cordon off one escalator at a time with non-penetrating barricades and maintain all other passenger movements. The Contractor will carefully remove all aspects of the existing escalator, its rails, pumps, equipment, motors, finishes and hardware components, essentially reducing the existing equipment to its two truss rails which span floor to floor. Consideration must be given to the ability to access this work zone directly from the lobby and the amount of heavy lifting equipment necessary to stage both demolition and rebuilding. Bidders shall submit a certified check or bid bond, payable to the City of Pensacola in the amount of five thousand dollars ($5000) for a period of sixty (60) days.
