This landmark facility will bring improved community services to the public though a modern, efficient, environmentally, and socially responsible and durable facility. The new complex also includes Silver Harbour, a 1,920 m2 new Senior’s Activity Centre located at 2335 St Georges Ave to be delivered at the same time as the Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre. The new facility is designed to provide a welcoming, vibrant social heart of the community, fostering individual and collective wellness by providing opportunities to participate in a variety of organized and casual activities. The centre will empower community members to enjoy healthy, active, and connected lives. The facility will be designed to the highest accessibility standards and will be a people-oriented, community gathering place, providing opportunities for residents of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, and interests. The design features an arena with seating for up to 500 spectators, one gymnasium, multipurpose rooms, arts space, a youth area and preschool, a community kitchen and cafe, a 25-metre pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and leisure pool, fitness centre and a senior’s activity centre. Outside, there will be a new skate park, playground, green space, sports courts and central plaza, all over a 270-parking space parkade. The project value listed reflects the total project estimate.
