The general nature of the work is as follows: In order to provide relief to existing educational programs, the West Des Moines Community Schools is planning an expansion of Clive Learning Academy. The work includes site modifications to improve storm water management on site and construction of a new classroom addition to south of the building. The addition shall also house an ICC-500 rated Storm Shelter for all occupants of the building. As part of this project, the electrical service will need to be relocated, and a new parking lot to the south be installed. Submittals may start as soon as the contract is awarded. Submittals need to start as soon as the contract is awarded. The school shall remain functional during the school year and interior work shall be phased according to the construction documents. Phase 1 work must be substantially completed (with systems ready for operation) no later than August 12, 2022. Phase 2 work must be substantially completed (with systems ready for operation) no later than December 30, 2022. Phase 3 shall start the day after the last day of school in June of 2023. Media Center renovations and exterior site work must be substantially completed (with systems ready for operation) no later than August 4, 2023. Phase 4 work must be substantially completed (with systems ready for operation) no later than December 22, 2023. The onsite work may commence on June 3, 2022, or the day after the last day of school.
