Site work for a water / sewer project in Marshfield, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The Work under this contract includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the replacement of water main and drainage utilities along Surf Avenue, between Rexhame Road and Ocean Street. The water main work consists of approximately 2,200 linear feet of new 8-inch ductile-iron water main including temporary water bypass, fire hydrants, valves, and water service connections. The Owner will furnish the majority of the water main materials for this project as noted in Appendix F. Drainage work includes the demolition of all existing drainage and the installation of new precast concrete manholes and catch basins, a reinforced concrete pipe trunk line, PVC catch basin laterals, and special drainage structures. The work also includes dewatering in areas of high groundwater. Final paving will be performed by others. The Work shall consist of furnishing all labor, equipment, materials, tools, apparatus, and all other incidental work required to complete the replacement of the existing water mains and drainage infrastructure as specified and shown on the Drawings. The Work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following: 1. Furnishing, installation, relocation, and removal of all piping, fittings, valves, hydrants, thrust blocks, restrained joints, couplings, appurtenances, and service connections as shown on the plans and as directed by the Engineer. The Owner will furnish the majority of the water main materials as noted in Appendix F. 2. Furnishing and installation of temporary bypass as shown on the drawings and specified. The Contractor may submit a formal temporary bypass plan, which must be approved by the Engineer and Owner, if they elect to differentiate from the proposed temporary bypass plan as shown on the drawings and specified. 3. Furnishing, installation, relocation, removal, and replacement of existing drainage infrastructure as shown on the plans and as directed by the Engineer. 4. Perform all required testing and disinfection of the new water mains and temporary bypass system. 5. Perform backfill compaction testing a minimum of every 200' for the entire project. 6. Adjustments/repairs and/or replacement of utility appurtenances (manholes, catch basins and water valves, frames, grates and covers, gate boxes, etc.) and other related work, as specified or directed by the Engineer. 7. Removal and legal disposal of all trench and pipe materials encountered and removed to facilitate construction. 8. Furnishing all materials and performing all excavations, backfilling of excavated areas, and restoration of surface pavement as noted in the drawings. 9. Furnishing all labor, materials, and necessary equipment to loam and seed disturbed areas as shown on the drawings including all costs associated with the excavation and disposal of unsuitable material in areas to receive loam and seed. 10. Installation of bituminous concrete trench pavement as specified or as directed by the Engineer. 11. Restoration of sidewalks, driveways, granite curbs and berms, and landscaped areas as shown or as directed by the Engineer. 12. Furnishing, installation and maintenance of all traffic control and safety measures during the construction period, including signs, barricades, detours, maintenance of safe vehicular and pedestrian access to abutting properties, businesses and commercial establishments and assuring an uninterrupted supply of utility services to all public amenities, businesses and abutters within the project area, at all times. 13. Maintenance and repair of all work for a period of one (1) year following the issuance of the Certificate of Substantial Completion. 14. The Work shall also conform to such additional Drawings and addenda to these Specifications and Drawings as may be published or exhibited prior to the opening of bid proposals and to such Drawings in explanation of details, or as may be furnished by the Engineer from time to time during the construction. 15. Work, materials, equipment, and storage areas, which are necessary for construction, but which are not specifically referred to in the Specifications or shown on the Drawings, but implied by the contract, shall be furnished by the Contractor at his own cost and expense, and shall be such as will correspond with the general character of the Work, as may be determined by the Engineer, whose decisions as to the necessity for and character of such work and materials shall be final and conclusive. It is the intent of these Specifications to produce a complete, finished job, whether shown in every detail or not. 16. Furnishing all materials, labor, and equipment for the relocation, protection, or temporary disturbance of existing utilities (i.e. water, gas, sewer, drain) to permit water main and drainage improvement activities. 17. Design, furnishing, installation, operation and maintenance of construction dewatering system and appurtenances in accordance with various regulatory approvals, as required. 18. Restoration of municipal and private property including turf, landscaping, docks, outbuildings, hardscapes, utilities, fencing, and trees. 19. Maintain filter sock if damaged and ensure functionality. 20. Coordination of all construction activities with the appropriate local and State Authorities, and utility companies. 21. Attending the Pre-construction conference and the required job progress meetings. 22. Submission of a construction schedule, list of subcontractors, and proposed sources locations for off-site materials. 23. Submission of all required shop drawings, in a timely manner, to the Engineer, for review. 24. Mobilization/Demobilization to/from the site. 25. On-site and laboratory testing, as specified. 26. Installation and maintenance of erosion controls; consisting of filter sock, silt sacks and silt bags, and providing dust control as required. 27. Coordination of all construction activities with the Engineer, Owner, Regulatory Agencies, Local Utilities, and Police. 28. Obtaining necessary permits and licenses, maintaining all items required by applicable permits, and payment of fees. 29. Traffic control planning, devices, and coordination of police details. 30. Provide a set of clearly labeled red line as-built drawings and construction photographs at the completion of the project. The work shall also conform to such additional Drawings and addenda to these Specifications and Drawings as may be published or exhibited prior to the opening of bid proposals and to such Drawings in explanation of details, or as may be furnished by the Engineer from time to time during the construction. Work and materials which are necessary in the construction, but which are not specifically referred to in the Specifications or shown on the Drawings, but implied by the contract, shall be furnished by the Contractor at his own cost and expense, and shall be such as will correspond with the general character of the work, as may be determined by the Engineer, whose decisions as to the necessity for and character of such work and material shall be final and conclusive.
