Spec #8652- MILLING OF BITUMINOUS AND CEMENT CONCRETE PAVEMENTS Deadline to submit Questions Feb 9th 2022, 11:30 AM EST Work includes various depth milling and/or carbide grinding of existing bituminous or cement concrete roadway pavement and shoulder surfaces. Milling and/or grinding of bituminous wedge curbs shall leave the existing wedge curb with a two-inch reveal and shall be incidental to the various depth milling and/or carbide grinding of bituminous shoulders. This work will be performed in conjunction with subsequent Micro-Surfacing and/or In-House Paving operations. Included in the scope of work are the following: the replacement of loop detectors, maintenance and protection of traffic during construction off-duty uniformed police officers and traffic control personnel (off duty uniformed police officers will also be included when used with the in-house paving operations), temporary waterborne solid yellow and white 4" line striping, removing and resetting guiderail, centerline rumble strips, permanent waterborne yellow 4" line striping, permanent thermoplastic yellow 4" line striping and permanent thermoplastic 4" white line striping. All work will be performed within the boundaries of Allegheny County on various County owned roads, bridges and parking lots situated within various municipalities. Work will be performed on an as needed and directed basis by a designated County Representative, at various sites and in accordance with the lines and grades depicted and/or directed. Consider each new road, bridge or parking lot work assignment that is more than one mile away from the current work site to be a new site for mobilization purposes. The County may provide the contractor with a list of work sites that are to be milled and/or ground. The contractor is required to submit a construction work schedule for formal approval by the Department prior to the start of work. All work is to be completed in accordance with the contract specifications and in conformance with the lines, grades, and details shown on the plans (if any) and/or as directed by a County Representative.
