The Department of Industrial Relations' Labor Enforcement Task Force (LETF) is leading a new initiative to inspect publicly funded construction sites to ensure employers provide workers' compensation insurance and follow labor laws, including applicable prevailing wage laws, skilled and trained workforce requirements, workplace health and safety requirements, and apprenticeship standards. The enforcement effort includes teams from DIR's Divisions of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), and Labor Standards Enforcement (Labor Commissioner's Office) in collaboration with other enforcement partners. The Contractor and the City shall make good-faith attempts to resolve any and all claims and disputes that may from time to time arise during the performance of the work of this contract. If the Contractor considers any Work required of them to be outside the requirements of the Contract, or if Contractor consider any instruction, meaning, requirement, ruling or decision of the City or its representative to be unauthorized or improper, Contractor shall, within seven (7) calendar days after such demand is made, or instructions given, file a written protest with the City Engineerstating clearly and in detail the objection and reason therefore. TheContractorshall nonetheless perform the disputed work even though a written protest has been filed. If a written protest is not submitted within seven (7) calendar days of the date that Contractor's claim arose, the Contractor shall waive his right to further claim on the specific issue.
