Renovation of a power facility in Fort Thompson, South Dakota. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a power facility.
Capable PRIME CONTRACTORS are requested to respond to this Sources Sought notice in order to assist the Omaha District in determining the most appropriate acquisition approach to this tentative requirement. Work anticipated under this requirement includes rehabilitating the Depression Air Compression System at the Big Bend Powerhouse. This system is integral to Big Bend's ability to operate in synchronous condensing mode, as it provides the compressed air required to depress the water level in the draft tube to a point below the turbine runners. There are currently four Ingersoll Rand XF-75 Rotary Screw air compressors, three water-cooled and one air-cooled. The current compressors are rated for 315 CFM at 100 psi. Under this contract, two compressors will be retained and two replaced. The new compressors will be rated at 150 hp and 812CFM at 115 psi capacity. This project will require the integration of the new compressors into the existing depressed air system. The new compressors must interface with existing equipment, including the old ones, to provide makeup air and the associated back pressure system.
