APS - Secure Entries Wakefield High School Renovation Project Location: Gunston Middle School, 2700 S. Lange St., Arlington, VA 22206 1. Existing Gunston Middle School is comprised of a two- and three-story building, Construction Type IIB, Protected. Portions of the building were constructed in the 1950s and various additions were built in the early 1990s. Type "E". The existing building is equipped throughout with fire alarm and automatic fire sprinkler systems. 2. The Project consists of: a. Interior Renovations to the existing spaces. Classification of the Work of this Project is Alteration Level 2. Rooms that are altered and added will be connected to the existing systems or supplemented with additional HVAC units. Programmed occupancy is less than the allowable occupant load on all floors. b. Replacement of existing First Responder door signage at all exterior egress doors. 3. The Interior Renovation Scope Items are briefly listed below: a. Add entry vestibule to a relocated and renovated Main Office Suite at the existing lobby at Door #5. b. Flip Science Rooms with Administrative space to move the Main Office closer to the East exterior side of the building. c. Relocated and renovated Science Classrooms and associated casework. d. Relocated and renovated Main Office Suite and Conference Rooms and associated casework. e. New universal ADA toilet. f. New Pantry/Coffee Station. g. New Resource Suite. h. Sagging sidewalk remediation. i. Interior sinking slab remediation. j. Storefront replacement. k. New ACT Ceilings and finishes throughout impacted area. l. First Responder signage replacement throughout building
