As of December 19, 2025, design is complete and the city expects to begin the property acquisition process early next year. This project is being constructed in a FEMA floodplain, so the city needs FEMA approval before construction begins. The design consultant is scheduled to submit the necessary documentation to FEMA in January or February 2025. It is expected to take FEMA up to a year to approve the permit application. Bidding could occur in early 2027 with construction starting summer 2027 but is subject to change based on FEMA’s review timeline.
