The City is soliciting Bids from Contractors to construct a flood control wall around the area surrounding the Thornhill Community Centre. The flood control wall will be a permanent flood barrier to protect building envelope openings in the high-risk areas during extreme weather events. The elevation of the new Flood Control Wall is designed to divert flood waters that have previously accumulated and eventually spilled into existing below grade stairs, walkways, and doors. The objective of this Project is to advance Markham's Flood Control Program, which aims to increase the resiliency of existing infrastructure in order to address current and future flood hazard concerns related to extreme weather and climate change.
