Aiken County Government is soliciting sealed bids from qualified contractors for the construction of a new convenience center to be located at 411 Connector Road in Graniteville, SC 29829. Questions will be received via email only to procurement@aikencountysc.gov until 3:00 p.m. February 11, 2022. Phone calls will not be accepted. The Q&A will be posted to the County website before 5:00 p.m. on February 15, 2022. Aiken County is requesting bids for the construction of a new convenience center to be located at 411 Connector Road in Graniteville, SC 29829, as shown in the attached plans. The scope of work will consist of rough and final grading, asphalt and concrete placement, storm water system installation, electrical installation to support the compaction equipment, as well as roadway grading and paving. Purchasing of the compaction equipment will be by Aiken County, but the installation of the equipment will be the contractor's responsibility. The Bids must be submitted as stated on the attached Aiken County Sealed Bid Document. The time of completion is one hundred and eighty (180) consecutive calendar days from Notice to Proceed, and availability of all items must be confirmed prior to commencing work. Liquidated damages are five hundred ($500.00) dollars per calendar day. Written requests for additional time caused by unforeseen delays will be considered only if submitted in writing to the County Engineer within ten (10) calendar days of event causing the delay. The work must commence on or before a date to be specified in a written "Notice to Proceed" from the Owner, and the project fully complete within the consecutive days thereafter, excluding major holidays. The warranty period for this project is two (2) years on labor and materials against defects and workmanship. This warranty period shall commence upon owner's final approval of the entire work. Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, including without limitation and to reject the Bid of any Bidder if the Owner believes it would not be in the best interest of the Project to make an award to Bidder, whether because the Bid is not responsive or the Bidder is unqualified or of doubtful financial ability or fails to meet any other pertinent standard or criteria. The Owner reserves the right to approve or disapprove the use of particular subcontractors.
