Renovation of a municipal facility in Toms River, New Jersey. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
In general, the work on this project consists of a partial demolition and stabilization of the Manitou Park Schoolhouse owned by the Berkeley Township, New Jersey as detailed in these specifications. Project locations: 167 Third Ave, Berkeley Township, NJ 1. Contractor to verify all conditions in field prior to demolition and to coordinate all demolition activities with intended construction. Report all discrepancies to Engineer for review. 2. Partial demolition of the existing schoolhouse including removing wood framed walls, floor framing, ceiling/roof framing and ceiling/flooring materials. Existing foundation walls and concrete steps to remain in place. Contractor shall be responsible for protecting existing wall and shoring existing joists during demolition. Contractor shall also remove all interior debris, including carpeting and dispose of all waste according to guidelines prepared by Township hazardous materials consultant. Existing concrete steps to remain. 3. Where walls, counters, doors etc. are shown to be removed, all wiring in demolished areas shall be removed back to panel except wiring that is necessary to facilitate new construction. All piping branches, sanitary lines etc. to be removed back to the next largest service line except where to be altered to facilitate new construction. All plumbing fixtures in the area of work are to be removed and the lines capped for future use. 4. Review relocation of existing electrical switches, outlets, fixtures (if any) with Engineer prior to demolition. 5. Contractor to remove and salvage the existing interior doors as shown on the Contract Documents. Salvaged items which are to be installed in conjunction with new work shall be stored in a safe, secure and dry location and not interfere with occupant egress, activities, or space requirements. 6. Contractor to dispose of demolished materials off-site in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Furnish and install all new flashing materials in accordance with manufacturer requirements for the designed roofing system. This includes all roof penetrations, edges, vent pipes, exhaust fans, roof drains, etc. No bids are to be picked up at the engineer's office or at the municipality offices. Payment must be received prior to obtaining said specifications. No bids are to be dropped off at the engineer's office. All bids are to be delivered prior to the bid opening date and time. The Township Of Berkeley reserves the right to consider the bids for sixty (60) days after the receipt thereof, and further reserves the right to reject any or all bids, either in whole or in part and also to waive any informality in any and make such awards or take action as may be in the best interest of the Township Of Berkeley. Bids must be on the bid form prepared by Remington & Vernick Engineers, in the manner designated therein and required by the specifications, must be enclosed in sealed envelopes bearing the name and address of the bidder on the outside and also bearing on the outside reference to the particular work bid upon. Said bids shall be addressed to Mr. John Camera, Administrator, 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road, Bayville, NJ 08721. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check or bid bond duly executed by the bidder as principal and having as surety thereon a surety company approved by the Township Of Berkeley in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) but in no case in excess of $20,000.00 of the amount bid. Any such bid bond shall be without endorsement or conditions. Bid shall also be accompanied by a certificate letter from a surety company stating that it will provide the bidder with the completion bond. Completion- 90 (NINETY) CALENDAR DAYS
