ILDOT - 160 - Designed Overlay and Culvert Replacement on US 40 / IL 185 The work on this project is located in Fayette County on US 40/IL 185 from the Kaskaskia River Bridge to 0.1 miles east of US 51, including the US 40/US 51 ramp, and on US 51 from the intersection of US 40/IL 185, east of Vandalia, to 0.2 miles south of Shobonier Road. The project is a total 7.49 miles. The work on this project consists of 7.49 miles of hot-mix asphalt (HMA) resurfacing, on previously resurfaced pavement, using 3P guidelines. The proposed project includes 1 1/2" milling, 1 3/4" of HMA binder course, and 2" of HMA surface course for the designed overlay area. There will be an inlay of US 51 and US 40/IL 185 intersection on all legs of US 40 and IL185. The proposed inlay includes 3 3/4 " milling, 1 3/4 " of HMA binder course, and 2" of HMA surface course. Longitudinal joint sealant will be placed on top of the binder at the resurfacing joint and anywhere the plan sheets specify. HMA shoulders will be milled and resurfaced along with the mainline pavement. Rumble strips will be included on the HMA shoulders. A 3' aggregate shoulder wedge will be constructed. Specified median and curb repair will be completed, and the median approaching the intersection of US 51 and US 40 on US 51 will have a corrugated median installed. Box culvert replacement will take place on existing structure number 026-8648.
