Improvements to the Colby Estates Sewer System will include installing approximately 2,546 l.f. of 8" SDR 26 PVC sewer main, 11 manholes, 883 l.f. of 4" Schedule 40 PVC sewer service lines, and appurtenances as required. Existing sewer facilities shall be kept in operation at all times. All laborers and mechanics employed by contractors and sub-contractors on projects funded directly by or assisted in whole or in part by and through this agreement shall be paid wages at rates not less than those prevailing on projects of a character similar in the locality as determined by the Secretary of Labor in accordance with subchapter IV of chapter31 of title 40, United States Code. The Contract Documents must include 29 CFR Part 5.5(a). When the project is advertised for bid there must be a section in the contract documents that lists the required wage rates for workers. All of the iron and steel products used in the project must be produced in the United States. The term ''iron and steel products'' means the following products made primarily of iron or steel - lined or unlined pipes and fittings, manhole covers and other municipal castings, hydrants, tanks, flanges, pipe clamps and restraints, valves, structural steel, reinforced precast concrete, and construction materials. The prevailing wage rates of the State of Kansas apply to this contract as do any requirements of the State of Kansas associated with the use of these State Prevailing wages. The prevailing wage rates of the Department of Labor apply to this project. Bid security in the amount of 5 percent of the bid shall accompany each bid in accordance with Instructions to Bidders. Owner reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject bids. No bidder may withdraw his bid within 60 days after the actual date of the opening thereof.
