The City is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to prepare design of a UV system for the Fitch water treatment plant. The City anticipate that the water to be treated will be derived from a connection downstream of Well F2, diverted to the treatment area, routed through the UV system, then returned to the water main. The UV system will be housed in a pre-engineered building adjacent to the Fitch Well Field Control Building. Power and control will be derived from the control building. The UV system would be wall mounted within the new pre-pre-engineered building. The City expects that the consultant's team will include water treatment design (piping modifications, UV), electrical and controls engineering, and other expertise skills normally needed for this type of project. The selected consultant will select equipment; prepare plans, specifications and estimates for bidding and construction; provide limited services during bidding; and provide limited services during construction. The City of Healdsburg owns, operates, and maintains a treatment facility for its Fitch well field. The treatment facility provides power and controls for the well pumps, as well as chemical addition (sodium hypochlorite for disinfection, orthophosphate for corrosion inhibiting, and fluoride as a public dental prophylaxis ) to the water prior to the water being used for municipal water supply. In 2019, in the Long Term 2 Surface Water Treatment Rule sampling, the sampling at the Fitch well field were found to have a 12-month mean cryptosporidium concentration less than 0.0075 oocysts per liter. The City is required to provide treatment to assure 2-log Cryptosporidium removal at this location.
