This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Edmonton, Alberta. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.

Reference Number AB-2022-00902 The SSR SWQMF Investigation on the Bow and South Saskatchewan Rivers will determine the spatial and temporal scope of the observed changes in surface water quality of total dissolved solids, specific conductance, sulphate, chloride, pH, nitrate and total nitrogen in the Bow and South Saskatchewan Rivers. Also, source tracking (determination of cause) and processes causing spatial and temporal variability of the parameters. The objectives of this project (in order of priority) are to gather literature, gather data and complete evaluations and analyses to answer the following investigation questions: 1) What are the primary source(s) of total dissolved solids, specific conductance, sulphate, chloride, pH, nitrate and total nitrogen in the Bow and South Saskatchewan Rivers This question addresses whether natural or anthropogenic (or both) activities are responsible for the exceedances. 2) What is the spatial and temporal scope of the observed changes in surface water quality of total dissolved solids, specific conductance, sulphate, chloride, pH, nitrate and total nitrogen in the Bow and South Saskatchewan River watersheds This question will determine the depth of evaluation necessary for each parameter. 3) To what extent do the parameters interact among each other, as well as, with other relevant WQ parameters (e.g. additional riverine physical & chemical processes) within the Bow and South Saskatchewan Rivers (watersheds) This question addresses whether riverine physical & chemical processes are contributing to or detracting from natural or anthropogenic activities. 4) What are the main processes controlling variability in total dissolved solids, specific conductance, sulphate, chloride, pH, nitrate and total nitrogen in the Bow and South Saskatchewan River watersheds This question addresses why exceedances are observed in some years/seasons/stations and not others. Answers to these questions will identify gaps in knowledge, inform recommendations for next steps, and to ensure the management framework process is achieving the intended outcome. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
