City of Akron Local Goal: 18% EDGE/DBE/MBE/WBE/SBE/VBE (minimum 3% WBE) Engineers Estimate: $7,376,813 The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and includes, but is not limited to, the following; the construction of a new one-story w/mezzanine 15,064 square foot fire station building. Site improvements include the development of approximately 4.08 acres of land. Coordinate the Work of this Contract with work performed under the Owner's separate contract: Site Package This project will have been completed as preparation for the work described in these documents. The general goal of the Site Package has been to excavate and replace existing subgrade organic soils and replace them with prepared fill. The installation of this work will facilitate traditional spread footings for the new building foundations. It is the intent of the Site Package to enable the new subsurface work to surcharge for a minimum of 60 days or as directed by the engineer to allow for settlement before the Fire Station construction begins. The displaced soils will be replaced with layers of #57 stone, the voids of which will provide the water quality and detention controls for the new Fire Station. On top of the #57 stone, #304 embankment material has been placed up to the elevation needed for the new Fire Station subbase. New roof leaders and final storm water connections from the building to the subsurface storm water controls will be completed by the building contractors.
