The existing multi-use trail connecting UWEC to the Water Street District and to the proposed Sonnentag Center is aged and in need of reconstruction. An existing retaining wall along the trail has reached the end of its design life and needs replacement. The project proposes a new 12' wide concrete trail consistent with downtown trails, a new retaining wall to replace the deteriorated existing wall, overlooks to the Chippewa River and decorative pedestrian scale lighting. The project limits are Haas Fine Arts Building to Ninth Ave. As of May 9, 2025, this project is included in the City of Eau Claire's Fiscal Year 2025-2029 CIP. It is still in the conceptual phase. Information regarding a design firm and timeline for construction have not yet been established. Funding is allotted for FY 2026 and 2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
