James City County issues this Request for Quote (RFQ) to obtain quotes from qualified and experienced firms to establish a contract with firm-fixed unit pricing for as-needed septic pumping and hauling services for various locations within James City County. The Contractor shall perform the required work at the location and date designated by the Stormwater and Resource Protection Division. No minimum amount of work will be guaranteed. This project has been funded wholly or in part by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under assistance agreement 96351601-3 to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. Through this project, the County will provide assistance to local residents to receive septic tank pumping services. Virginia State law requires anyone within a Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area (CBPA) to have their septic tank pumped or inspected once every five (5) years. Research has shown that failing septic systems contribute considerable amounts of pollution to groundwater and the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. The County anticipates funding septic tank pumping services for between 15-25 residences within James City County.
