Renovation of an educational facility in Asheville, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The Base Bid project consists of upgrading the existing HVAC System, and additional scope, presented as Alternates, including Roof System Replacement, Window Replacement, Gang Toilet Upgrades, Kitchen toilet upgrades and walk-in cooler/freezer replacement, door hardware and guardrail replacement and gym floor replaces. It is anticipated that the Contractor will be instructed to commence work approximately May 1, 2022, the base bid Mechanical work will need to be Substantially Complete no later than August 11, 2023 with Final Completion not later than October 1, 2023. The Contractor will be required to work with Buncombe County/Asheville City Schools to finalize the construction schedule based on the campus calendar dates and limited work hours. Refer to the Document 00 73 00 - Supplementary General Conditions for anticipated scheduling limitations. All work is in the Contract for General Construction. All proposals shall be lump sum per the bid form. Single Prime Contract Bids (to include General Contract, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical). The Owner reserves the right to award additional prime contracts for, including but not limited to, Interiors, Landscaping, Site work, data wiring, site utilities (water & sewer) etc., which may be performed concurrently with the construction. The selected Contractor for this project shall submit to the Architect a schedule of estimated values of all material, equipment, and labor included in the main divisions of this contract, totaling the amount of the contract price. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit, a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on some bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation of an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal or in lieu thereof, a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent (5%) of the maximum amount of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds, conditioned that the surety will, upon demand, forthwith make payment to the obliges upon said bond if the bidder fails to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit shall be retained by the Owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten (10) days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. A Performance Bond and a Payment Bond will be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, with a Corporate Surety approved by the Owner, will be required for the faithful performance of the contract. Attorneys-in-fact who sign Bid Bonds or payment bond and performance bonds must file with each bond a certified and effective dated copy of their Power of Attorney. Payment will be made on the basis of ninety-five (95%) of monthly estimates and final payment made upon completion and acceptance of work. BIDDER further agrees to pay as liquidated damages, the sum of $ 500.00 for each consecutive calendar day thereafter as provided in Article 15 of the General Conditions. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of Sixty (60) days without the consent of the Owner. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities
