Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a municipal facility in Cedartown, Georgia. Conceptual plans call for the addition of a municipal facility; for the demolition of a municipal facility; for the renovation of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
The purpose of this RFQ is to engage an architectural firm to work with the County on planning a complex renovation and addition project for the County existing Courthouse #1. Therefore, the Polk County Board of Commissioners is soliciting for qualifications from architectural consultants that have significant experience in complex courthouse renovation and addition projects. The current courthouse #1 was completed in 1951 and is located adjacent to the downtown historic district on 116 Prior Street in Cedartown, Georgia. Courthouse #1 contains one Superior Court courtroom and space for two Superior Court Judges, the Probate Court with its own courtroom, the District Attorneys office, Victims Assistance, Accountability Court, Probation office, the Clerk of Court including real estate deeds. The County desires to plan for courthouse space to serve the county through at least 2040 and the expected population growth. Many of the current offices have no room to add any additional personnel or are already overcrowded. The County and court operations are scattered across multiple buildings that generate public confusion and inefficiency. The County is committed to keeping the courthouse in downtown and has no desire to relocate from the historic downtown area. The County is committed to preserving the 1951 Courthouse but would like to see more productive use made of it after it is fully renovated and expanded. Deadline for RFQ Inquiries 5pm - March 7, 2022 All inquiries and questions regarding this RFQ shall be in writing and directed to: Matt Denton, Polk County Manager mdenton@polkga.org The deadline for submission of any questions shall be March 7, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. All questions and answers will be combined into a formal written post bid addendum to the RFQ and posted on the county's web site and accessed by all interested parties prior to the submittal deadline. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
