The reconstruction of 2nd Avenue from Maxfield Street to Pine Street; Maxfield Street from 1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue; Chestnut Street from 1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue. The Germania Park Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) covers an area of Mankato generally bounded by Riverfront Drive, 1st Avenue, Trunk Highway 14 (TH 14), and the Minnesota River.The existing subsurface of this area is predominantly bedrock, which has limited the development to smaller residential developments and industrial businesses. Most of the city-owned infrastructure is original and dates 50 to 75 years in age, with the exception of Pine Street and a few residential streets on the east side of 3rd Avenue. In 2011, Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. was retained by the City of Mankato to develop a master plan for the Germania Park area. This plan originally envisioned the improvements starting in 2015. Due to funding priorities within the Community Investment Plan these projects were delayed until 2019. As January 20, 2023, this project is currently in the FY 2023 - 2027 CIP. Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction FY 2026. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
