The first site is on the Bill Nicholls trail at 46.825970, -88.973609. This site has an existing 30" diameter corrugated steel culvert that will be removed and replaced with a new 30" diameter concrete culvert with concrete end sections. Some minor trail repairs and adjustments are also included. The culvert is buried about 25' below the trail elevation. The second site is on the Ontonagon to Rockland trail near Rockland at 46.74790, -89.20992. This site has an existing 36" diameter culvert of varying materials that will be removed and replaced with a new 60" diameter concrete culvert with concrete end sections. Some minor trail repairs and adjustments are also included. The culvert is buried about 20' below the trail elevation. The third site is the Bergland site which is on the Bergland to Sidnaw trail near Bergland at 46.577601, -89.501244 on Mill Creek. This site has two existing 60" diameter concrete culverts that will be removed and replaced with a new 96" diameter concrete culvert with metal end sections. Some minor trail repairs and adjustments are also included. The culvert is buried about 15' below the trail elevation. This culvert will also require grates/guards at each end. The fourth site is on the Ontonagon to Rockland Trail near Ontonagon at 46.863980, -89.315560. This site has an existing 48" diameter concrete culvert that will be removed and replaced with a new 84" diameter concrete culvert with metal end sections. Some minor trail repairs and adjustments are also included. The culvert is buried about 20' below the trail elevation. All sites will require excavation, removals, disposal, backfill with existing material and potentially with imported material, slope restoration, bypass pumping or diversion, and erosion control measures. Phase I consists of plowing the snowmobile trail for access, bypass pumping/diversion, excavation of the existing embankment, removal of the existing culvert, lining the remaining channel with 6A and geotextile, installing erosion eels, and installing some of the riprap aprons to allow water to flow through the channel until Phase II can commence.
