Construction of the pavement improvements at the Mayes County Fairgrounds include the removal of the existing screenings that were installed at the time of the original construction of the new buildings within the complex. These screenings will be stockpiled in a location provided by the Owner and can be used at the direction of the Engineer or Owner. After the screenings have been removed, all new drainage structures are to be constructed per the plans. Once this is completed, then the grading operations can be completed. This will include the adjustment of all existing items shown on the plans and those that were not located during the survey of the site, and any other items that may be found during the screening removal. The grading south of the buildings should be completed during this time. Once all grading is completed and the overall site is prepared for aggregate base material, then all aggregate base shall be placed per ODOT Specifications. In the areas where the screenings were removed, the existing aggregate base is to be re-compacted and proof rolled. Any soft-spots are to be reported to the Owner and Engineer. After all aggregate base is placed, the paving efforts should be commenced and completed within a reasonable timeframe. All adjusted items should have proper aprons and adjustments done prior to placing asphalt pavement. The bollards and pipe railing may be installed after the paving operations are completed. This overall construction effort may need to be phased if the Fairgrounds has activities planned. The Contractor will schedule and confirm all major activities with the Owner or Engineer.
