The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is soliciting bids for the annual Maryland Chesapeake Bay Striped Bass Spawning Stock Survey: Spring 2022. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources requires: A captain having at least five (5) years experience in drift gill netting in the Howell Point to Turkey Point area of the Upper Chesapeake Bay, one mate and boat to fish experimental drift gill net in the Upper Chesapeake Bay, five to seven days per week, with work to be completed between Monday, March 28, 2022 and Saturday, May 28, 2022. A captain having at least five (5) years experience in drift gill netting in the Sandy Point to Freestone Point area of the Potomac River, one mate and boat to fish experimental drift gill net in the Potomac River, five to seven days per week, as needed, with work to be completed between Monday, March 28, 2022 and Saturday, May 28, 2022. Experimental survey net is to be supplied by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Net is to be set and taken in on a slack tide each day, weather permitting, at the direction of the attending biologist who will accompany all sampling activity. Captains must provide a sound, seaworthy boat and engine, capable of being used for drift gill netting, with functioning depth sounder.
