As of August 7, 2024, design is in progress. A bid/construction timeline is not yet available. Cornell University is seeking qualifications from consultants to provide civil engineering and landscape design for the Fernow Hall Courtyard hardscape and softscape improvements. The project also includes site restoration associated with an adjacent emergency generator project at Bradfield Hall. Project Description The primary scope is replacing the failing Fernow Hall Courtyard masonry stairs and flanking landscape walls with an 8' wide set of stairs (Precast concrete treads or granite) and associated side mounted stainless steel handrail. The flanking landscape walls are to be permanently removed and replaced with re-grading and softscape. Project to address landscape and pavement associated with the Bradfield emergency generator project. While the emergency generator project will install a permanent retaining wall, topsoil, and a gravel sub-base for the re-fueling drive and service walk, there will be additional paving, and plantings required for maintenance, visual screening, and overall restoration of the courtyard. Ideally the site lighting would remain unchanged. Scope of Services The services indicated below shall include, but not be limited to: Design Phase, Construction Documents, Bid Phase and Construction Administration services for the project as described above. Project Reference Materials (if applicable): Existing conditions survey Fernow Stairs Photo Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Participation Pursuant to New York State Executive Law Article 15-A, Cornell University is committed to promoting opportunities for maximum feasible participation of certified MWBE firms and the employment of minority group members and women in the performance of Cornell contracts. Consultants are required to ensure that good faith efforts are made to include meaningful participation. Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Enterprise (SDVOB) Participation Pursuant to New York State Executive Law Article 17-B, Cornell University is committed to promoting opportunities for maximum feasible participation of certified SDVOB firms and the employment of veterans in the performance of Cornell contracts. Consultants are required to ensure that good faith efforts are made to include meaningful participation MBE, WBE, and SDVOB goals are listed in the New York State Contract Reporter (NYSCR) ad. The consultant shall provide a Subconsultant Staffing List for the project using the form attached to the NYSCR ad. This subconsultant staffing list shall include the percent of work to be completed by each subconsultant and indicate whether each subconsultant is a MBE, WBE, or SDVOB. Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Set Aside: No Minority Owned Sub-Contracting Goal: 3.4% Women Owned Sub-Contracting Goal: 3.6% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Contracting Goal: 6% The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
