City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, will meet at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa, at 6:00 p.m. on April 12, 2022, at which time and place the City Council will hear objections to the proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract for said Ada Hayden Heritage Park Dredging of Wetland G (Cell 1). City of Ames Contract No. 2022-103. All bids received after the deadline for submission of bids as stated herein shall not be considered and shall be return to the late bidder unopened. Contractor assumes all risk associated with delivery of his or her bid to the office of the city clerk prior to the specified time deadline The City Manager shall announce the results of the bidding, together with his recommendations thereon, to the Council at its meeting to be held at 6:00 o'clock p.m. local time on April 12, 2022. The project site is located at the Ada Hayden Heritage Park, 5205 Grand Avenue, Ames, Iowa 50010. The City of Ames Ada Hayden Heritage Park Lake is protected by a wetland complex. The first wetland in the series from the west, Wetland Cell 1, has entirely silted in with eroded sediment. Due to the increased siltation and sedimentation, the effective water holding capacity, retention time, and nutrient reduction properties have diminished, eliminating the wetlands original purpose. The Ada Hayden Cell 1 Dredging Project will restore the wetland to the original design elevations with the excavation of approximately 3800 cubic yards of silt. All bids shall be submitted to said City Clerk on or before the time set herein for the bid opening. Bids shall be made on the Proposal Form furnished by the City of Ames, in a sealed and plainly marked envelope indicating it is a bid in response to this notice. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with a bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. After award and approval of contract and performance bond, work on this contract shall substantially completed no later than December 1, 2022. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. As required by Iowa Administrative Code 875, Chapter 156, the bidder shall complete and submit the Bidder Status Form with its bid and certify its state or country of domicile by completing the address section of the Bid Form. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provision grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa statutes.
