The City of Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department has a project to rebuild the sand volleyball courts at Town East Park. A General Contractor has been awarded a contract for the basic construction including the site work, court border, subsurface drainage system, and gravel drainage base for the top layer of specialty sand. This specialty sand will be provided to the General Contractor by the City through this purchase. The City shall issue a Purchase Order authorizing the work and obligating payment upon City acceptance of the material. No Permits shall be required by the City. Vendors may submit two sand options for consideration. The base option which meets the requested criteria and an alternate which the vendor feels is appropriate and suitable for the intended use. A price per ton, the anticipated quality needed for the project, and a sample of the proposed sand material should be provided for each option. Proposal shall be scored using the established Evaluation Criteria to identify the best value for the City. Under the direction of the Parks Project Manager supply and deliver specialty sand suitable for sand/beach volleyball to the Town East Park project site located at 2525 John Glenn Pkwy., Mesquite Texas that meets following criteria: Specialty Sand Criteria: - Silica sand suitable for exterior beach volleyball - Material shall be washed and screened to remove dust and sharp rock particles - No golf bunker sand - Quantity: court size = 80 x 95 = 7,600 sf x approx 1.75deep = 13,300 cubic feet / 27 = 493 cubic yds. Vendor shall indicate on the bid form the number of tons needed to fill the court. It is anticipated the sand will need to be available for delivery in mid-March and the exact delivery schedule shall be coordinated with City Representative and General Contractor to ensure sand is delivered when Contractor is present and ready to install. The City of Mesquite reserves the right to enforce the performance of this contract in any manner prescribed by law or deemed to be in the best interest of the City in the event of breach or default of this contract.
