Site work for a water / sewer project in Riverside, California. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The work consists of removing and disposing of the existing coal tar enamel lining from approximately 4.1 miles of 36-inch inside diameter pipe, installing cement mortar lining, removing portions of the existing pipeline and manhole structures, installing new pipe and manhole structures, welding butt straps, installing air release valves, salvaging existing plug valves, installing Metropolitan-furnished valves, and other appurtenant work as specified and shown on the drawings. Following the pre-bid conference, a tour of the project site will be conducted by Metropolitan and will start at 12:00 p.m. at the construction trailer on southeast of Bristol Street and CA State Route 73 (33 40' 29.7" N, 117 53' 19.2" W). Attendance at the pre-bid conference is a condition precedent to submittal of a bid, and Metropolitan will not consider a bid from any bidder not represented at the pre-bid conference. Immediately following the pre-bid conference, a tour of the project will be given. The attendees shall be responsible for driving their own vehicles. Attendees must wear construction attire during the tour. All personnel attending the pre-bid conference shall possess a valid government-issued photo identification card and shall not pose a security risk to Metropolitan. Any vehicle entering a Metropolitan facility is subject to search and visual inspection. As parking at the site is limited, carpooling within the bidder's organization to the maximum extent possible is encouraged. Attendance at the pre-bid conference by subcontractors is not required. Metropolitan has adopted a policy encouraging the participation of Small Business Enterprise and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (SBE/DVBE) firms in its contracts. For this project, Metropolitan requires small and/or disabled veteran business participation of at least 15 percent of the total bid. Failure to meet this percentage will cause Metropolitan to reject the bid as non-responsive. SBE/DVBE participation will be determined by the total value of all contracts entered into with SBEs and DVBEs for this project. The bidder and his or her subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations and qualified to perform public work pursuant to Labor Code Section 1725.5. Metropolitan will not accept any bid without proof of current registration to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
