The Naperville Police Department was built in 1990 and has been very active serving a working population of approximately 275 employees. Several areas within the police department have been identified as experiencing age-related issues, lack sufficient technology, and require security improvements. Remodeling the building to include security and technology upgrades will enable staff to perform their duties efficiently and securely. The department was thoroughly examined for needed repairs and remodeling. An architect examined the entire police facility and developed a comprehensive list of repairs and remodeling recommendations to create a purposeful and systematic plan to address the projects over a several year period. 2022 included implementing security measures by installing gates and fences around the perimeter of the building. 2023-Remodeling the patrol sergeant and commander areas 2024-Investigations major case room and detective area 2025-Evidence and crime scene area 2026-Executive conference room on second floor 2027-Second floor work room and first floor conference room Project is included City of Naperville FY 2024 - 2028 CIP. As of October 17, 2024, an architect has been identified. Currently in the Schematic Design phase, the project consists of updating the seating, furniture, carpeting, lights, paint, and other interior finishes of the Social Services department and the Investigations department. The conference room/Major Case Room will also be renovated. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
