Site work and new construction of an educational facility in London, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 103,765-square-foot, five-story above grade educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

Western University is inviting Proponents (General Contractors and select Sub-Contractors) to submit Statement of Qualification for the New Engineering Building. Western University (Western) is inviting General Contractors and the following Sub-Contractors to submit Statement of Qualifications: - Mechanical; - Electrical; - Drywall / Plastering / Acoustic; and - Glass and Glazing. The Request for Statement of Qualifications (RFSQ) document sets out the requirements for the Proponent's submission and specifies the evaluation criteria and contractor prequalification process. This prequalification is the first of 2 phases, which involves assessing the qualifications of potential General Contractors and Sub-Contractors. This phase is conducted through a Request for Statement of Qualifications (RFSQ), during which Proponents are evaluated for their qualifications. If the Proponents are deemed qualified during the RFSQ phase, the second phase will be the Request for Tender (RFT). In this phase, qualified Proponents are invited to submit detailed tenders or proposals for the project or contract being procured. This project is being driven by both the current necessity and the University's strategic vision. Western is planning to construct a new building to address a multi-year Engineering expansion. The project site of the proposed New Engineering Building is shown below in Figure 1, bounded by Alumni Hall to the north, and Claudette MacKay-Lassonde Pavilion, Spencer Engineering Building and Cronyn Observatory to the west, and the South Valley lot to the east. The design utilizes two blocks shifted along the east-west axis to respond to site constraints. The north block will consist of four storeys; two below grade, two above, and the south block will consist of five storeys; two below grade, three above. An atrium is provided to connect the two volumes. The atrium is highly transparent on all sides, identifying it as the primary circulation corridor and main entrances through the site. The building will house dry research labs and student study spaces, inclusive of clubs, teams, and social spaces. (See Appendix F for floor plans, sections, renderings). Milestone Date / Duration: - Construction Start Winter 2024/25 - Construction Completion Fall 2026 Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com Question Deadline 12/02/2024 at 2:00 PM ET Any questions or requests for clarification during the solicitation period must be submitted in writing by the primary contact Renzo Di Blasio, Project Manager, Facilities Development & Engineering Phone: (519) 878-6986 Email: rdiblasi@uwo.ca
