The UBC Hospital (“UBCH”) Lobby (the “Lobby”) is the main portal for all UBCH users including patients, families, visitors and staff. Since its completion in 1970 only two renovations (circa 1980) were undertaken within the Lobby: (1) An addition of a Vestibule and (2) the deletion of Pharmacy space and separation of the space which is currently used as storage. The Lobby is an “L-shaped” space including a Vestibule, loose seating, a volunteer workstation, a donor wall and enclosed offices. The current Lobby provides an inefficient staff work space and ineffective wayfinding due to limited and small signage. The atmosphere is uninviting with limited access to daylight. The renovation covers a variety of departments & locations within the lobby: Efficient Staff Work Space: Site Supervisor Office, Switchboard, Staff Washroom, Multipurpose Staff Room, Business Centre, two additional touchdown spaces, and Cashier Office. Administration Space: Remains in existing location to avoid operational disruption to Admitting, Switchboard and Cashier Office An information desk: In prime location with sightlines from adjacent hospital corridor and in close proximity to entrance An admitting counter: For seated transactions, providing privacy Dedicated Modular Seating: Appropriate for healthcare environment and users of all ages Dedicated Wall Space: For Wayfinding, donor wall (to remain in current location) and art work Dedicated Spaces: ATM, waste, recycling and vending machine Waiting Area: Sufficient space for queuing, meeting Covid and infection control requirements Documents can be obtained from https://fraserhealth.bidsandtenders.ca/
