1. All material shall be cast iron, except where noted. Castings shall be free from sand holes, shrinkage, cracks, cold shuts or other defects. They shall be smooth and cleaned by shot blasting. Castings shall conform to ASTM A-48-76, Class 30 Specifications. Castings shall be manufactured true to pattern and component parts shall fit together properly. All round manhole frames, covers and grates shall have machined bearing surfaces to prevent rocking. 2. All castings and steel shall be of domestic manufacture, and shall comply fully with all provisions of the Steel Products Procurement Act, and shall meet Federal Buy American Requirements for Highway Aid Projects, as listed in 23 C.F.R. 635.410(4). 3. For ease of bidding, ordering and comparison generally EJ part numbers are listed but equals may be accepted as determined and approved by the Municipality of Monroeville and such equals shall be completely interchangeable with the items listed, and those currently in use within the Municipality of Monroeville. 4. Samples, if required by the Municipality of Monroeville, shall be furnished at the bidder's expense. 5. All material shall comply with PennDOT Publication 408/ 72M (latest edition) and manufactured by a supplier listed in Bulletin 15. All bid prices, once accepted by Council, shall remain firm for a period of one (1) year from the award date. Bid prices must be delivered prices to any location with the Municipality of Monroeville unless otherwise stated. Bidders are not required to bid every item in this proposal. Orders must be delivered within 45 calendar days of order placement or the Municipality reserves the right to disqualify the vendor for the remainder of the term in favor of the next lowest bidder. Bid prices are to be free of any state, local or federal tax since the Municipality is a tax- exempt jurisdiction (tax-exempt certificate provided upon request).The Municipality reserves the right to purchase more or less material than the estimated quantities listed above. All sealed bids must be received by the Municipal Manager of the Municipality of Monroeville, 2700 Monroeville Boulevard, Monroeville, Pennsylvania 15146 by the published deadline and marked STORM SEWER GRATES, FRAMES, RISERS, LIDS. Vendors supplying multiple bids are required to seal each and every bid individually, and clearly mark every envelope as to its contents. Once all of the bids are prepared they are to be placed in one single bid package, with all individual bids listed on the outside of the bid package.
