Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The City of Oskaloosa is accepting bids for the 2022 Storm Sewer Intake Repair Project. This project includes repairs to 6 intakes and 2 manholes in the vicinity of 2nd Street and High Avenue East, 1 intake at the intersection of South 1st Street and 1st Avenue East, and the construction of 1 new intake along South 1st Street a half block south of 1st Avenue, along with associated pavement work and storm sewer pipe installation and other items required for the completion of this work. More information can be found in the attached documents. Location - Intersection of High Avenue and 2nd Street, and South 1st Street from 1st Avenue to 2nd Avenue Remove and dispose of the existing intake, excavate for the new intake, build the new intake base, walls, and top with minimum 6" thick reinforced (#4 rebar) concrete (C4), and secure/seal all pipe connections to the new intake. Base of existing intake may be re-used with City approval if in good condition. At least 6" of compacted granular subbase (Class A Roadstone) shall be placed under the base of the new intake box. Manhole casting will be provided by the City. Intake depths vary from 2 foot to 5 foot. Remove and dispose of the top approximate 3 feet of existing intake, excavate for the new intake, build new walls tied into the existing structure with #4 rebar, and top with minimum 6" thick reinforced (#4 rebar) concrete (C4), and secure/seal all pipe connections to the new intake. Re-use intake castings when applicable. All castings and pipe will be provided by the City. Any expansion joints surrounding the new intake shall be sealed. Repair any damage to chip seal road with asphalt material. Backfill all disturbed areas with topsoil, compact the backfill to grade, remove debris and re-seed the disturbed area. Excavate for the new intake, build the new intake base, walls, and top with minimum 6" thick reinforced (#4 rebar) concrete (C4), and secure/seal all pipe connections to the new intake. At least 6" of compacted granular subbase (Class A Roadstone) shall be placed under the base of the new intake box. Manhole casting will be provided by the City. Remove and dispose of the existing manhole, approximate 6' depth. Backfill with compacted granular subbase (Class A Roadstone). This item is only for the removal of manholes which will not be replaced. Remove and dispose of the existing pavement, and place 6" of compacted granular subbase (Class A Roadstone) and 7" of concrete (C4) pavement with integral curb and gutter. Remove and dispose of the existing sidewalk and excavate for 4" of concrete (C4) sidewalk. Tie into the existing sidewalk with 2 pieces of #4 rebar. Sidewalk ramps must meet current ADA standards. Truncated domes will be provided and placed by the City. If necessary, the contractor will need to cut the domes to fit. Saw cuts shall be placed every 4'. Sealed expansion joints shall be placed at the back of curb. Backfill all disturbed areas with topsoil, compact the backfill to grade, remove debris and re-seed the disturbed area. Completion - May 27, 2022 - Failure to complete this project by the specified date may result in termination of the contract and disqualification from future projects.
