Site work for an educational facility in Bolivia, North Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a primary / secondary education facility.
The Contractor shall begin the work upon receipt of the Purchase Order, and expeditiously, with adequate forces, complete the work within the specified calendar days. The required milestone dates, and completion date are included in Exhibit 1. The contractor shall coordinate all work with Operations personnel to ensure minimal disruption to school activities. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the Work on or before the date stipulated for Substantial Completion, or such later date as may result from extension of time granted by Owner, he shall pay the Owner, as liquidated damages, the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for each consecutive calendar day that terms of the contract remain unfulfilled beyond the date allowed by the Contract, which sum is agreed upon as a reasonable and proper measure of damages which the Owner will sustain per day by failure of the Contractor to complete Work within time as stipulated; it being recognized by the Owner and the Contractor that the injury to the Owner which could result from a failure of the Contractor to complete on schedule is uncertain and cannot be computed exactly. In no way shall costs for liquidated damages be construed as a penalty on the Contractor. The contractors are responsible for all items required to complete the scope of services; those items being included in the scope of services even if not listed below. The subcontractor's workmanship shall be equal to or exceed the workmanship of reputable contractors performing similar work in the Wilmington Metropolitan Service Area. Contractor shall perform the following scope of work in compliance with all federal, state, and local codes and in accordance with any plans, specifications and engineered drawings, design, or criteria. The general scope involves furnishing and installing of Aluminum Canopy Systems. Work to include but not limited to suppling of Engineered Drawings, include any cost for geotechnical soil borings or data if needed or required, include permit cost, include all material and labor for the layout of footings, dig, prep and place footings for canopy systems, and installation of canopy systems, and all incidental work relating to the project to provide the complete and fully functional operating canopy systems. Contractor is responsible for scope and to verify all dimensions and sizes. The Scope of work includes but is not limited to the following: Canopies Furnish and install a pre-engineered (free standing) extruded aluminum walkway canopies with internal rain gutter, matching existing profile, panels, and color. Posts, Beams/Gutters sized as needed per Engineered drawings, manufacturer requirements and in compliance with all Local, State, and Federal Building Codes. Obtain the pre-engineered metal canopy from a single source who will manufacture the canopy. Provide fully engineered shop drawings giving wind load 150 MPH and live load criteria, sufficient for Permitting, and Owner review for complete construction of canopy. Approved manufacturers: Superior Metal Products, Perfection Architectural Systems, Mitchell Metals, or approved equal, for the aluminum walkway canopies. This project will consist of two free standing canopies between the main building exit of the 500 Hall to the New Automotive Building entrance at The COAST. - One free standing canopy at the Automotive entrances to be approximately 14'- 0" wide and 10'- 0" long with bottom of beams to be approximately 11'- 4" above finished sidewalk. Canopy will overhang canopy coming from main building 12". - One free standing canopy at main building exit from 500 Hall towards Automotive building to be approximately 11'-0" wide and 9' - 0" long coming out of entrance and then will have a transition section of approximately 4' - 0" long where canopy transitions down from 11' - 0" wide to 8' - 0" wide on one side with the other side continuing straight and continues 8'- 0" wide for 35' -0" long towards Automotive building with bottom of beams to be approximately 8'- 8" above finished sidewalk. The total canopy deck will be approximately 557 SF in total area. Field conditions and manufacturer specifications will determine actual finish size. Footings: Site investigation for existing utilities is mandatory before any excavation occurs. Call UTILITY LOCATE COMPANY for locating existing utilities. Bore or make neat uniform footings, as required to support columns, and as specified by canopy manufacturer, engineered calculations and drawings and being in compliance with all federal, state, and local building codes. Concrete foundations shall extend to within 4" of grade at all locations. If columns must be installed into existing concrete walks, pads, or slabs, then walks, pads, and slabs shall be diamond cut and footings installed with the balance of the concrete to be placed level with existing walks, pads, and slabs to match finish as closely as possible. The color of panels, posts, and fascia are to be selected by Owner. All joints and connections will be tight and clean and all surfaces of work left in a clean condition. Decking Panels: shall be flush/flat bottom, extruded aluminum in a baked enamel finish, color chosen by the owner. Fascia/Gutter: Install extruded aluminum fascia/gutter with matching finish. Canopy Columns: Extruded aluminum canopy columns to be 6" x 6". 4" x 6" columns may be used provided columns are Engineer approved and meets all codes and wind criteria for zone in which canopies are being installed, columns shall be spaced no more than 10-foot intervals. Canopy Beams: Extruded aluminum C-Beams sized as required. Drainage: Walkway canopies shall drain internally, from fascia/gutter to columns, and discharge at or near finished grade level towards exterior of canopies away from sidewalks. Minimize dust and dirt contamination and prevent contamination beyond immediate work area. Protect all existing finished surfaces. Broom-clean and/or rake worksite at the close of work each day. Work area is to be left safe at the close of each workday. Leave no unfilled/protected foundation holes. Column foundation holes may be filled with sand, temporarily until metal columns are ready to be installed. Warranty: Contractor is to provide One (1) year warranty on material and labor; Manufacturer to provide five (5) year warranty on material. Contractor is to provide documentation for proper care and maintenance of canopy. Contractor is responsible to verify all dimensions and sizes on site. Contractor is responsible to remove and properly dispose of all construction debris off site, daily. Further, contractor shall perform a final construction clean of work area, including but not limited to dirt, dust and debris created by his activities. Submittals to be provided upon receipt of PO to assure materials available at project start date - Contractor to provide Schedule to CPP including permitting, submittals, construction start, delivery dates, timeline for major construction activities, final clean-up, and punch list - If work involves weekends or holidays Contractor to have schedule approved in advance by Capital Projects & Planning. Access into the school's facilities will have to be coordinated three days in advance
