Roadway and Bridge Reconstruction Between Milepost 126.07 and Milepost 130.47 in Somerset and Bedford Counties - 4638749

Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and road / highway.

*The Notice to Proceed was issued on May 24, 2022. As of June 6, 2022, a general contractor has been awarded and the worksites are being assembled. Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2022. This project provides for the furnishing of all labor, material, equipment and work necessary to perform staged construction for full-depth reconstruction and widening of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The project includes the construction of one box culvert extension, one arch culvert extension, two retaining walls, three noise walls, one access ramp bridge and two mainline bridges. The contract also provides for drainage modifications, shoulder reconstruction and maintenance and protection of traffic. The proposal and plans are published electronically in EBS and are available to registered business partners for downloading and printing. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five (5%) percent of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project.
