A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (Department), Division of Fish and Wildlife, seeks a Contractor to perform agricultural services on a Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The successful bidder will enter into a revenue contract with the Department to farm one field on the Braddock Bay WMA, totaling approximately 104 acres, under the common practices of planting, cultivating and harvesting agricultural crops that provide benefit to wildlife. The following crops will be allowed: hay, corn, wheat, rice, barley, oats, peas, grain sorghum, rye, millet, soybeans, and buckwheat. For all these grains, 10% of the crop must be left standing and unharvested for wildlife food and cover. If hay is grown, it cannot be harvested until after July 30 of each calendar year for fields under 25 acres and after August 15 for fields 25 acres or larger. To provide winter food for wildlife and to reduce erosion, fall tilling of waste grains after harvest is prohibited, unless a cover crop is to be planted after tilling. The Department may at its discretion accept land management services as full or partial compensation for the acreage farmed. These compensatory services may include land preparation, establishment of grass cover, leveling, grassland mowing, control of undesirable vegetation, general land clearing, and removal of shrubs and trees.
