Requests for clarification or interpretation of the Bidding Documents must be in writing and received by University by FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 2022 by 4:00 PM. Description of Work: Bonner Hall is a five-story building built in 1964 located in the Revelle College neighborhood. The building is predominantly for laboratory and research space. The proposed project will renovate rooms on the first floor of Bonner Hall in support of the Technology Sandbox. The Technology Sandbox will serve as a central hub for research and training, bringing together different technology platforms managed by multiple facilities into one central location. The project will provide research laboratories for collaborative work with industry representatives, who will provide technical expertise, development, and networking opportunities for students with local and global companies. The proposed scope will renovate rooms 1329, 1329A, 1402, 1413, 1449, and 1449A. It will include any necessary mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades, as well as any specific temperature and humidity requirements and any infrastructure requirements to support future technology over time. Project duration is 447 calendar days (224 days for Preconstruction and 223 Days for Construction). Level II Interviews will be conducted on TUESDAY, MARCH 29, 2022. A schedule and supplemental interview information will be provided in the Interview Documents (issued under a separate cover). Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Anticipated Contract Amount shall accompany each Bid. The surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120). The lowest responsible bidder will be selected on the basis of the best value to the University. The objective criteria and methodology used to determine Best Value are described in the Bidding Documents. The best value to the University is the selection resulting in the best combination of price and qualifications. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the work. The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: B- GENERAL BUILDING CONTRACTOR Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. Contractors and subcontractors on all public works projects must use the DIR's upgraded electronic certified payroll reporting (eCPR) system to furnish certified payroll records (CPRs) to the Labor Commissioner. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
