The Town of Scituate, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Contractors for the Scituate Lighthouse Restoration in Scituate, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by Spencer Preservation Group. The Project consists of but not limited to: Replicating the historic 1930 lantern room, replacing the concrete deck and substructure, interior repointing, window restoration, and related repairs. The work is estimated to cost $1,600,000.00. All bidding Requests for Information (RFIs) shall be forwarded to shawn@spencerpreservationgroup.com by 02/20/2023 at 5:00PM EST for general bids. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.149 26 to 27H inclusive. General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the following category of work, General Building Construction, and must submit a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Prime/General Contractor Update Statement. Filed sub-bidders must be DCAMM certified for the trades listed below and bidders must include a current DCAMM Sub-Bidder Certificate of Eligibility and a signed DCAMM Sub-Bidders Update Statement. General bids and sub-bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (including all alternates), and made payable to the TOWN OF SCITUATE. Note: A bid deposit is not required for Projects advertised under $50,000. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following: 1. Replication of a new lantern, using the existing 1930 lantern as a template. 2. Abatement of asbestos-containing glazing compound on the existing lantern 3. Replacement of the concrete deck and partial reconstruction of upper brick wall. 4. Reconstruction of the interior dome with concrete. 5. Recladding of the lantern and deck in copper, including new hatch. 6. Replacement of guardrails at perimeter of deck. 7. Repointing of all interior brick and granite masonry. 8. Replastering of all interior brick surfaces. 9. Selective repair of interior wood stair. 10. Restoration of wood windows. 11. Selective reinforcement of interior granite lintel. 12. Replacement of wiring, convenience outlets, and interior light fixtures. 13. Replacement of lantern dome vent fan and tower dehumidifier.
