Site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Sheffield, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
The major work to be completed in this contract is to install approximately 8.1 track miles of 136RE continuous welded rail (CWR). In addition, this contract includes, but is not limited to, the installation of one new turnout, replacement of two existing turnouts, replacement of five private/farm crossings, surfacing and aligning of approximately 1.8 miles of track, spot tie replacement, and spot ditching. Work also includes installation of new bridge timbers on four bridges, bridge bearing work for five bridges, installation of new walkway on three bridges, replacement of five existing culverts, and cleaning six existing culverts. Prospective bidders shall bring with them all personal protective equipment which must be worn to access the project site. Prospective bidders are required to submit all questions to the Construction Contracts Designer by 1:00 P.M. on the Thursday of the week before the scheduled bid opening date. Any questions received after this time will not be considered for review by the Department. Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000.
