Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Colfax, North Carolina. Working plans call for the construction of a 100,000-square-foot educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
As of August 7, 2024, an architect has been selected and this project is in the design phase. A construction manager has also been selected. Construction will begin the second half of 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Advanced Planning services for the creation of a new 100,000 sq. ft. facility at the Cameron Campus to relocate the Aviation program currently located in the AVII and Ceasar Cone II Buildings. The Advanced Planning effort will include development of concept design, programming of the space, review of PME systems and cost estimating, based on owner-approved design and specifications for the proposed facility. This will be the only selection of the designer for the project and will follow the full formal project selection process as required for projects in excess of $1.5 million. The initial budget for the facility is $40 million pending further review. Once the budget is defined and funds allocated, the selected designer will negotiate a full design contract for services through design, construction administration, and close out. NC Executive Order 143 applies to Guilford Technical Community College projects and contracts for design services under $250,000.
